Weekly Schedule

From the kids' point of view, Awana is a lot of fun!  But it is also designed to give them a balanced learning and growing experience.  There are three half-hour meeting segments; their order depends on the club.

Our clubs meet on Thursday evenings, September 15th through May 17th, from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.  Everyone first meets at ACRC to boards the vehicle which leaves ACRC by 6:35pm to arrive at Fair Haven Bible Chapel by 7:00pm.  Club is over at 8:45pm and clubbers return back to ACRC by 9:30pm. Each club meeting is a 1 hour and 45 minutes program comprising of three segments:  Game Time, Handbook Time, and Council Time.  The club meeting begins with the flag ceremony.  Clubbers and leaders pledge first to the national flag, then the Awana flag.

Game Time
This 30-minute segment features high-energy activities featuring individual and team competition -- a time to learn team play and sportsmanship.  The clubs are divided into four teams (Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow) that compete on Awana's unique four-way Game Circle.  Games are aimed at the skill level of the children.

All children should wear sneakers or other non-slip shoes for safety during Game Time. Children who do not do so may have to sit out Game Time.

Handbook Time
This 30-minute segment is a time for the children to work on their handbooks.  They break into groups where each child gets one-on-one attention from a leader.  Handbooks are filled with lots of activities as well as verses from the Bible to be memorized.  Through handbook activities, leaders help the children to understand God's Word and apply it to daily life.

Council Time
This 30-minute large-group segment includes club announcements, awards presentations, song time, testimonies, a Bible message and closing.

Some meetings have themes and special activities, such as Wacky Hair Night (everyone comes with their craziest hairstyles).  There are also special events outside of the regular meetings, such as; Saturday BBQ’s or Sleepover’s when clubbers spend time with the leaders doing all sorts of fun planned activities.
